MINUTES of the City Council, August 8, 2023

The city council of Moody, Texas met in a regular session August 8, 2023. This meeting was duly announced in accordance with Title 5, Chapter 551, of the Texas Government Code. The following items were addressed:

  1. CALL TO ORDER, ESTABLISH A QUORUM IS PRESENT. Mayor Charlene Dowell called the Public Hearing of the Moody City Coucil to order, determined that a quorum was present with herself, John Carpenter, Richard Moore, and Jennifer Houghton present.  Member of the Council Bar also in attendance was the  City Administrator and Police Chief. The City Council was called to order and the Regular Session started at 6:00 P.M.
  2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE & PRAYER. The Group assembled in the pledge to the U.S. Flag and to the Texas Flag. The group offered a prayer for the group and proceedings.
  3. Public comments on agenda items.

None.

4. Public comments on non- agenda items.

None.

5. Council was asked to review and approve city council minutes from regular meeting on July 20, 2023. Motion was made by Jennifer Houghton and seconded by John Carpenter. All for and none against, motion passes.

6. City Manager gave an introduction regarding the proposed tax rate. Motion was made by Richard Moore and seconded by Jennifer Houghton. All for and none against, motion passes to adopt proposed NNR tax rate of .447607. Resolution# 20230808A signed by Mayor Dowell.

7. Item#7- Jirasek Realty-Bostick Property, letter from City Attorney was handed to property owner, no action was taken.

8. Item# 8- Water 508 Country Rd. No action taken.

9. Item# 9 Tasha Good is requesting to build a duplex at 203 Ave. E. City Manager said that the process would start with sending out letters to surrounding neighbors.

10. Item# 10 Hari Ancha is requesting to build a duplex at 1508 Ave. E. City Manager said that the process would start with sending out letter to surrounding neighbors.

 11. Item# 11 Ivory Murray- Complaint. Resident did not attend meeting.

12. Executive Session started at 6:14 p.m. and ended at 6:38 p.m. with nothing to report.

13. Staff reports were given by Chief of Police and City Administrator.

14. Motion was made by Jennifer Houghton to adjourn and seconded by John Carpenter, all for and none against, meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
